THE MAJORITY OF THE BASQUE PATRIOTS WILL UNITE TO GOVERN THE BASQUE AUTONOMOUS REGION. Spaniards who are poor losers protest and threaten. Spanish Government's President keeps on committing offenses. GARA, the newspaper that will substitute EGIN, and DURANGO´S BOOK-FAIR are examples of the cultural, social and political vitality of the Basque rebel nation.

Tuesday 8th in Madrid a Spanish fascist knife with an accomplice negligence of the Spanish police destroyed the life of a young Basque man at Vicente Calderon stadium’s gates where a UEFA football match was about to be played by Real Sociedad (Basque team of San Sebastian) and Atletico de Madrid.

Saturday 12 EL PERIODICO DE CATALUNYA published an interview with Iñigo Idiázquez who is a football player of the Real Sociedad and a friend of the murdered Aitor Zabalaeta. Idiázquez made a sharp diagnosis of what happened:

“What occurred in Madrid was deliberate. The responsible of the security measures should be asked how it had been prepared. She/he left our supporters at the mercy of radical fascists of the Atletico de Madrid. LET’S STOP BEING CYNICAL. IT’S BEEN A POLITICAL MATTER. SPORT HAS HAD VERY LITTLE TO DO WITH IT. We are Basque and there’s a lot of people in Madrid and other places as Zaragoza or Valladolid who hate us and can’t help hating us”.

Mario Ruiz, the interviewer of EL PERIODICO, asked: “Was the atmosphere in Calderon stadium different than at other times?”

Answer: “Yes, during the week we had been warned it would be a different match. I even told Aitor he should not wear any of his usual shirt or scarf to avoid problems. AND IN THE FOOTBALL GROUND I GOT FRIGHTENED. BEING ABLE TO WATCH 40 000 PEOPLE, AMONG WHOM FAMILY FATHERS, SINGING “let’s jump, who ever doesn’t jump is a fucking Basques”. IT HAD BEEN A DEMONSTRATION OF HATE AS I NEVER HAD SEEN BEFORE IN MY LIFE”

Sharp diagnosis. Long years of Spanish “war journalism” through press television and radio have bred, in a Goebbels like manner, irrational feelings of hate towards the Basques. Once again the whole block of the Spanish ruling classes are leading in a fascist way “the psychological energies of a mass of middle-low class people that thrills at watching a football match or a trashy light opera" (Wilhelm Reich dixit in “Fascism mass sociology”).

Given the looks of the Spanish Government it is not astonishing that it tolerates and encourages its young mass to turn into fascists. Remember that the current fascist Government gives shelter to its corrupt party-members and keeps on giving shelter and hiding the increasing denounces and proofs of the immense robberies, huge briberies, enormous frauds, shark plundering carried out by ALI BABA Felipe Gonzalez and his 40 000 thieves of the PSOE during the period of 1982-1996. Felipe of Seville’s era whose unforgettable records are the robberies of the World Fair (Seville Expo), the Olympic Games of Barcelona, the AVE (Spanish TGV), and the robberies of reserved funds. Last week more proofs were to be seen of the plundering exploits carried out by thieves of the PSOE as Gonzalez, Guerra, Serra, Almunia, Borrell, Chaves, Barrionuevos and Vera. Of all that bunch of thieves, swindlers, criminals.

Current PP Government gives shelter (does not prosecute) to those thieves that carry on and even enhances the scope of the Law to be broken. A way of acting that was inherited from the Government of ALI BABA.

Regarding the particular issue of the Basque political prisoners, the Government of PP commits crimes EVERY DAY. Because every day the Spanish Constitution and penitentiary Law are ignored so as the rights of the Basque political prisoners. Every day the Government scoffs at the will of an absolute and overwhelming majority expressed within their Parliament. It also scoffs at the recommendation of the European Parliament and the requests of a few sensible Spaniards that seems to be left (Miguel de herrero de Miñon, for example).

All the while Blaire, whose friend Aznar pretends to be, carries on releasing Irish political prisoners EVEN IF THE DISARMAMENT PROCESS HAS COME TO HOLD. Assn. boycotts the Basque peace process EVEN IF THE TRUCE IS IN FORCE FOR MORE THAN THREE MONTHS NOW.

Aznar disregards the Law and boosts about it. Likewise his Minister of Propaganda and War Jaime Mayor Oreja. Both ignore the deeds. Both of them ignore the symptoms. Both, for example, deliberately pass over the very significant turn of the Basque owning class (even its hardest core of pro-Spain Basques) towards a free Basque Country.

Nevertheless, the Spanish Government seem to be drawn in its own stupefaction and acts out the worst fascists tics of Franco’s dictatorship era. For instance leaving things until they rot. Doing nothing. Energetically, firmly but certainly impassively.

The newspaper EL MUNDO, who openly supports of the Government of Aznar, has degraded it self today Monday as I write these lines by attacks on Bishop Setien. It has degraded itself by accepting the fruit of an offense: the violation of correspondence to attack fiercely Setien afterwards.

Why? Well, because Setien tells the truth. The very same truth that is sustained by an absolute majority of the Basque trade unions, politicians, and overall social majority of the Basque nation. That is to say: Spanish prisons still hold many Basque political Prisoners.

The very same Government of Aznar betrays BY NOT APPLYING THE COMMON PENITENTIARY LAW to these prisoners. They refuse to apply it for political reasons. Aznar him self says he will reconsider his attitude with the prisoners DEPENDING ON THE PEACE PROCESS: that is to say according to political reasons.

Sad role, miserable role, mean job undertaken by EL MUNDO. Its director, J. Ramirez who pretends to be a liberal and pretends to have respect for freedom has dragged his own name through the mire of collaboration , collaborating with a prison’s machine which is as fascist and genocidal as its Turkish equivalent or even MORE so, as it was well qualified by a Turkish soldier.

The challenge of Durango is an other matter of last week to be underlined. it started with a reaction to the success of the Basque Book and record Fair. And expectations since the organizers have decided to undertake a group removal (of publishing houses, record companies, purchasers and readers) and move to the INTERNET TIME- SPACE. This will challenge other groups.

For example: will the BNLM (Basque National Liberation Movement) carry out the same group migration to INTERNET SPACE TIME? Will it ? If so, did they think what to do with the enclosed technophobics existing at all levels ?

It is not a trivial problem. But it is far less serious and difficult that designing one’s own State. The latter has to be obtained as rapidly as possible. And its construction will need to be further discussed and thought about.
